French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas: defence and security, low carbon energies (nuclear and renewable energies), technological research for industry, fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Role in the project:

CEA will provide its expertise in data management including collection, pre-processing, analytics, and visualisation both in scientific research and technology development, as well as end users and impact facilitators with deep domain knowledge.

Centre for Research and Technology Hellas

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is one of the largest research centres in Greece, founded in 2000 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The mission of CERTH is to promote the triplet Research – Development – Innovation by conducting high quality scientific research and developing innovative products and services while building strong partnerships with industry (national and international) and strong collaborations with research centres and universities in Greece and abroad.
Role in the project:

The Visual Computing Lab (VCL) of CERTH’s Information Technologies Institute is the coordinator of the project and leader of the technical Workpackage WP4. CERTH contributes to all WPs acting both as a research and technology provider and a coordinator.

The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness asbl

The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness and Social Renewal asbl is a Brussels-based think tank and policy network. Established in 2003 in Belgium as a non-profit, non-partisan association, the group is dedicated to making a positive contribution through cutting-edge research and by engaging political leaders and the public at large in a constructive exchange about the economic and social challenges of the 21st century.
Role in the project:

The Lisbon Council leads the Work Package 6 as main vehicle for the CEDAR impact generation as well as to maximise the promotion and exploitation of the projects' Science and Innovation key results. This effort will also result in the realisation of an exploitation and sustainability plan, as well as a thorough assessment to evaluate the overall impact.

MANAGEMENT: Project Management
7

WP7 - MANAGEMENT: Project Management

Work Package 7 (WP7) guarantees the high-quality coordination, financial and legal administration, internal project communication, as well as the execution and progress of the project are accomplished within the allocated time and budget. The responsibility for all management-related activities (inclusive of a rigorous scientific, technical, and data coordination) will be carried by the Project Coordinator (CERTH) with the assistance of the General Assembly and experienced Ethics and Legal partners ensure compliance with EU legal frameworks and the development of a data management plan.
IMPACT: Promotion and Exploitation of CEDAR Science and Innovation
6

WP6 - IMPACT: Promotion and Exploitation of CEDAR Science and Innovation

Work Package 6 (WP6) will serve as the primary team for generating impact within CEDAR. It will strategize and execute all necessary techniques and activities to ensure effective dissemination and communication of CEDAR results to academic and industrial forums, as well as the broader public. Additionally, WP6 will explore the business perspectives of the CEDAR solutions and the exploitation and sustainability over the long run.
UTILISE: Data Visualisation, AI Utilisation, technology Demonstration
5

WP5 - UTILISE: Data Visualisation, AI Utilisation, technology Demonstration

Work Package 5 (WP5) is dedicated to showcasing the practical application of the projects' tools and methodologies through pilots in various domains. The primary goals of this work package include outlining the testing scenarios, establishing key performance indicators for each pilot, and validating the efficiency of the proposed AI-based approaches and tools. Validation of results will be carried out through the implementation of three specific Use Cases in different European countries: 1. Monitoring national Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) funds in Italy; 2. Transparent management of Slovenian public healthcare funds; 3. Transparent management of foreign aid for rebuilding Ukraine.
ANALYSE: Data Analysis and Machine Learning
4

WP4 - ANALYSE: Data Analysis and Machine Learning

Work Package 4 (WP4) will provide tools and technologies designed for the analysis of extensive data gathered from diverse sources, presented in various formats and data types. WP4 focuses on extracting meaningful insights related to corruption, identifying patterns, and uncovering anomalies often concealed within large volumes of data. The initial stage of the analysis pipeline involves delving into multilingual text, images, videos, audio, as well as financial and econometric data. Given the multi-domain nature of this data, WP4 entails the exploration of nuanced patterns, along with linking and merging the insights to generate actionable intelligence. The WP will accomplish the design and development of advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning multilingual textual analysis and understanding algorithms based on LLM (Large Language Models), NLP (Natural Language Processing), and NLU (Natural Language Understanding) techniques.
WP 3 - Collect
3

COLLECT: DataOps, MLOps, and Integration with CEDS

Work Package 3 (WP3) will provide technologies for the effective, scalable, and secure management of large datasets, integrating them with CEDs (Common European Data Spaces) in accordance with the development and integration roadmap outlined in WP1 and the data models established in WP2. In addition to the pertinent DataOps, MLOps, and CEDs connectors & APIs, this work package will also guarantee the cybersecurity of CEDAR technologies by conducting thorough cybersecurity risk assessments, implementing security mechanisms, and performing penetration testing.
WP2 - IDENTIFY
2

IDENTIFY: Data Identification and Preparation

Within Work Package 2 (WP2), the focus is on identifying and preparing the necessary data to tackle the challenges outlined and implement the plans as presented in WP1. This involves (a) establishing a registry of data to be collected, analysed, and utilized in the use cases; (2) outlining common data models and a methodology for harmonizing and/or aligning data from various sources; and (3) offering a methodology along with supporting technology to ensure the protection of any personal and/or sensitive data.
PLAN: Requirements, Design, Planning

PLAN: Requirements, Design, Planning

In Work Package 1 (WP1), there is a focus on enhancing CEDAR's research challenges based on user input. This phase aims to establish a standardized method for developing and assessing innovative technologies. More precisely, WP1 will fine-tune the use cases, formalize and unify requirements, outline solution designs, and establish the comprehensive development and integration plan.
